Monotypes

A monotype is a one-of-a-kind print made by painting, rolling or stenciling printer’s ink onto a smooth plexiglas or metal plate.

The monotype image may be drawn or traced from an existing drawing or photograph or created entirely from the imagination.

Resulting color print with leaf transfers

Resulting color print with leaf transfers is printed on an etching press that uses a heavy metal roller to transfer the image to the paper.

Monotypes are printed on an etching press. Heavy pressure transfers the image from the plate to paper. The resulting print is a mirror image of the one on the plate.
